THE NFA TRUST

An NFA Trust makes owning suppressors and other NFA-regulated firearms simpler, safer, and future-proof.

Purchase Your NFA Trust

WHAT IS AN NFA TRUST?

A legal entity that “owns” NFA firearms.

Allows multiple people (trustees) to lawfully possess and use the items.

Acts as an estate planning tool.

PURCHASING NFA ITEMS

You've got two options when purchasing NFA items: as an individual, or as a trust. Learn the advantages and disadvantages of each options and make the best decision for you and your family.

Purchase Your NFA Trust

INDIVIDUAL

Purchasing as an "individual" is quick and easy. But in general, there are more long-term restrictions and drawbacks than there are advantages that come from the initial ease of setup and paperwork submission.

  • Simple and fast to set up - no extra legal documents required
  • Only your own fingerprints, photo, and background check are needed.
  • Typically the quickest way to get paperwork submitted and approved.
  • Only you can possess and use the suppressor. Friends or family can't legally have access without you present.
  • If you want others to share ownership later, you'd need to redo paperwork or transfer it to a trust

TRUST

Purchasing as a trust future proofs your NFA collection, giving access to friends and family now, and as an estate planning tool. While the setup process is a bit more cumbersome, we genuinely believe that "this is the way."

  • Multiple people (trustees) can legally possess, transport, and use the suppressor without you being present.
  • Can be structured to pass NFA items down more smoothly to heirs.
  • Adds flexibility for families, hunting buddies, or business partners.
  • Requires setting up a legal trust document (can be DIY, but often best done with an attorney).
  • Slightly more paperwork—every trustee must submit fingerprints, photos, and background checks.
  • More setup cost and time upfront compared to an individual filing.
